Drury Design has been named a finalist in the category of Best Conference for the prestigious BizBash Event Style Awards.

The nominated event, IBM’s aptly named InterConnect 2015, was the tech giant’s biggest customer conference ever, combining three of its most popular events – Impact, Innovate and Pulse.

The premier cloud and mobile conference, which took place in Mandalay Bay and the MGM Arena in Las Vegas, was attended by a record-breaking 21,000 people with another 15,000 virtual attendees. The audience of IBM customers, developers, tech gurus and industry professionals witnessed the future of cloud, and innovations in mobile, DevOps, and security as well during more than 2,000 sessions, three General Sessions, multiple keynotes, and hundreds of breakout sessions.

In keeping with the theme of interconnection, Drury’s team designed a seamless conference that functioned as one cohesive event, integrating innovations that made attendees feel connected and part of all activities no matter if they were attending by remote, or at different venues.

Highlights included live broadcasts streaming to all attendees from top leaders in the tech and media fields on an InterConnect network; a 24-monitor interactive touchscreen center stage that functioned as a giant interactive tablet; a dramatic multi-media opening experience with an original score and live performance troupe; and 15,000 interactive LED wristbands linked across the two venues and used as a stunning visual statement.

In addition, rather than traditional PowerPoint speaker support, we supported virtually all speakers with original custom-designed motion graphics. Text-heavy slides gave way to stunning visual support with bold key words and dramatic supporting imagery. More than 75 percent ofcontent was video files. The sessions also featured innovative presentation formats, including a live beauty makeover on stage, a segment where the audience “hacked” live and an interactive segment with a live band.

Our approach to outside guest speakers also broke with tradition, featuring three sharks from the business reality TV show, “Shark Tank,” along with three contestants from IBM’s Global Entrepreneur program who pitched their ideas in the hopes of hearing the magic words, “I’m in.”

With so many moments that mattered, this strong and exciting program needed a powerhouse ending, and we gave it that with an exclusive concert by the iconic rock band, Aerosmith. It was a moment – and connection — not soon forgotten!

The winners of the BizBash Event Style Awards will be announced in New York at the BizBash Live Event on October 27.
