With more than 4,500 attendees from across the globe, INSIGHT 2019 invited NetApp’s customers and partners to explore what it means to build their data fabric in a hybrid multi-cloud world. Drury collaborated with NetApp on two of the show’s key components: The hands-on Mega Sessions and the Chairman’s Keynote Address. For the latter, we knew we needed to deliver CEO George Kurian’s message in the most powerful way possible, so we created an intimate, 360-degree theatre where graphics, videos, and IMAG were used to tell an immersive, larger-than-life story.
The Event
The Ask
The Chairman’s address was an opportunity for CEO George Kurian to communicate his main focus for the year ahead: customers should be building data fabrics instead of data centers. We concepted, wrote, and produced an opening video that blended a bold, edgy voice with key messages around the concept of “building.”
Kurian’s presentation took place in the round amidst six double-sided screens displaying supporting media, as well as panels that brought the conference’s eye-catching branding to life.
The Solution
Drury produced all six of these roll-up-your-sleeves, deep-dive tech sessions over the course of three days. Each featured hands-on demos and focused on a different key area for NetApp: Public cloud, private cloud, DevOps, an innovation sneak preview.
NetApp wanted these sessions to feel fun and engaging, so some had novel concepts. One session was a parody of the competitive singing show The Voice, where demo creators played the role of contestants and audience members voted on their favorites. Another session mimicked ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption with a beat-the-clock panel format. The program closed with a screening of DreamWorks Animation’s newest film, Abominable.
