The Ask
Call for Code is a global coding challenge that encourages developers and problem solvers to address some of the world's most pressing issues. The grand prize winner receives $200,000 to fund their project—but all finalists have the opportunity to work with Call for Code and its partners to deploy their solutions.
The Solution
We transformed the 2020 Call for Code Awards into an exciting, all-digital celebration of tech for good—while also expanding its reach to thousands more people, all over the world. We reimagined the program as an all-digital event with the energy and excitement of American Idol, the prestige and star power of the Oscars, and the thrill and anticipation of the NFL Draft. The main part of the program—the hour-long awards ceremony—was hosted by CNN’s Van Jones, who served as a friendly, knowledgeable audience surrogate and established continuity from segment to segment.
The Highlights
VIP Presentations: Chelsea Clinton, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, and Laurent Sauveur of UN Human Rights. // Grammy Award Winning Artists: including Rivers Cuomo of Weezer and the Soweto Gospel Choir. // Drury’s Engagement Platform: IBM Watson Streaming Player, Live Chat, Polling, Video Gallery
